Reno, NV (August 19, 2026) – A 5-year-old child has died from injuries sustained in a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of 9th Street and Dolomite Circle, according to the Reno Police Department.
The child was struck by a vehicle while chasing a ball into the street at about 8:33 p.m. on Monday, August 17, according to police. The driver left the scene without stopping to help.
Personnel from the Reno Police Department, Reno Fire Department, and REMSA responded to the crash. The child was taken to a hospital with severe, life-threatening injuries and has since died.
The Reno Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is handling the investigation. Investigators believe numerous witnesses left the scene before officers arrived and are asking anyone who saw the crash to come forward.
Police have released photos of the vehicle suspected to be involved and are searching for the driver. The Reno Police Department is asking the driver to come forward and speak with detectives.
