A crash reported as minor doesn’t always stay minor once the adrenaline wears off. Soft-tissue injuries, whiplash, and concussions often don’t show symptoms until a day or two after impact, which is why an early medical evaluation matters even when someone feels fine at the scene.

  • Get evaluated promptly: a same-day or next-day medical visit creates a record connecting any emerging symptoms back to the crash
  • Exchange and preserve information: insurance details, photos of vehicle positions, and any available dashcam or intersection camera footage help establish what happened
  • Avoid early settlement offers: insurance companies often move fast on minor-injury claims before the full extent of an injury is known
  • Understand fault isn’t always clear from the scene alone: Nevada’s modified comparative negligence rule (NRS 41.141) allows recovery as long as a driver is found less than 51% at fault

Nevada law allows two years from the date of a crash to file a personal injury claim (NRS 11.190), setting the deadline in this case at September 29, 2028.
