Las Vegas, NV - Scooter Rider Critically Injured in West Spring Mountain Road and Cimarron Road

Las Vegas, NV (Sept. 21, 2026) – A man riding a non-electric scooter suffered life-threatening injuries after colliding with a car in west Las Vegas, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Police say the crash happened just after 5 p.m. on the evening of September 21 at West Spring Mountain Road and Cimarron Road. A 39-year-old woman was driving a 2021 Chevy Camaro westbound on Spring Mountain on a solid green light at Cimarron.

At the same time, police say the scooter rider was crossing Spring Mountain from the northeast corner of the intersection toward the southeast corner. Officers say the crash occurred when the rider entered the Camaro’s path.

Medical personnel took the rider to UMC’s Trauma Center, where his injuries are considered life-threatening. Police say the driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment.

The crash remains under investigation by LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section. This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.

A crash serious enough to send someone to a trauma center changes a family’s life in an instant, and the questions about what happens next can feel overwhelming.

Pedestrian Accidents in Las Vegas, Nevada

Police accounts of how a crash unfolded, including who had the green light, do not automatically decide legal fault. Nevada follows a modified comparative negligence standard (NRS 41.141), meaning an injured pedestrian or scooter rider can still recover compensation as long as they were less than 51 percent at fault for the crash.

  • Who may be liable: the driver, and potentially the intersection’s signal timing or sightlines if a defect contributed
  • What investigators examine: traffic camera footage, the driver’s speed and attention, the scooter rider’s path across the intersection, and witness statements
  • Why the police report is not the final word: fault findings can shift once the full Collision Investigation Section report and any independent evidence are reviewed

Under Nevada law, you generally have two years from the date of the crash to file a personal injury claim (NRS 11.190). For this crash, that deadline falls on September 21, 2028.
