Las Vegas, NV - Pedestrian Trapped Between Vehicles, Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries on Charleston Boulevard

Las Vegas, NV (Aug. 4, 2026) – A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck and trapped between two vehicles on East Charleston Boulevard, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

The collision happened at approximately 10:33 p.m. on East Charleston Boulevard, east of South Main Street.

LVMPD said a 2023 Chevrolet Suburban and a 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQS were both stopped westbound at a red light at East Charleston Boulevard and South Main Street. The Mercedes-Benz was stopped directly behind the Chevrolet.

The pedestrian was crossing East Charleston Boulevard from north to south, east of the intersection and outside of a marked or implied crosswalk, passing between the two stopped vehicles. For a reason police have not determined, the Mercedes-Benz accelerated forward, striking the pedestrian and trapping him between the two vehicles.

Emergency medical services transported the pedestrian to University Medical Center’s Trauma Unit, where he was admitted with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Mercedes-Benz remained at the scene and did not show signs of impairment, LVMPD said. The driver of the Chevrolet Suburban was not injured. A passenger in the Suburban claimed injury, and a second passenger in that vehicle was not hurt.

LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section is investigating the crash. Investigators are relying on evidence collected at the scene, video surveillance footage, and witness statements to determine how and why the Mercedes-Benz moved forward into the pedestrian.

This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.

A crash that leaves someone trapped between two vehicles on a busy boulevard can change everything in a single moment, especially when the reason behind it is still unclear.

Pedestrian Accidents in Las Vegas, Nevada

A pedestrian struck outside a marked crosswalk does not automatically lose the right to compensation. Nevada follows a modified comparative fault standard (NRS 41.141), meaning an injured pedestrian may still recover damages, provided he was less than 51% at fault for the crash.

Drivers stopped at a red light must keep their vehicle under control until the light changes and the road ahead is clear. When a stopped vehicle suddenly accelerates into a pedestrian, attorneys and investigators in a case like this focus on:

  • Reviewing dash camera and traffic camera footage from the intersection
  • Analyzing the Mercedes-Benz’s onboard event data, including throttle and brake inputs before impact
  • Collecting witness statements from occupants of both vehicles and nearby pedestrians
  • Tracking the findings of LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section as they are released
  • Determining whether mechanical failure, driver error, or another cause explains the sudden acceleration

Because two vehicles were involved before the pedestrian was ever struck, more than one party may share responsibility. A thorough investigation looks at the Mercedes-Benz driver’s actions first, but it can also examine whether a mechanical defect or another factor contributed.

Under Nevada law, an injured pedestrian has two years from the date of the crash to file a personal injury claim, meaning the deadline in this case falls on August 4, 2028 (NRS 11.190).

Being struck by a car and trapped between two vehicles is a violent, disorienting way to get hurt, and worrying about medical bills and lost wages while recovering from life-threatening injuries only adds to the weight of it.

Vehicle event data, including throttle and brake inputs, and nearby traffic camera footage are recorded and deleted on their own schedule, so preserving that evidence now protects the claim later, before it disappears.
