Las Vegas, NV (Aug. 14, 2026) – A vehicle struck a pedestrian at the intersection of S. Rancho Drive and W. Sahara Avenue in Las Vegas on Friday, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.

Being struck while crossing a street you’ve walked a hundred times can leave a person hurt, shaken, and unsure who’s looking out for them while they recover.

Pedestrian Accidents in Las Vegas, NV

A pedestrian crossing outside a marked crosswalk does not automatically determine fault. Nevada follows a modified comparative fault standard (NRS 41.141), meaning compensation is still available as long as the injured pedestrian was less than 51% at fault.

Establish liability against the driver: investigators examine speed, right-of-way, and whether the driver was watching the intersection
Preserve evidence from the closure: traffic signal timing, dashcam or nearby business camera footage, and officer photographs from the scene

Document the medical response early: hospital records establish the injury before memories and evidence start to fade

Personal injury claims in Nevada must generally be filed within two years of the date of the crash (NRS 11.190). For this crash, that deadline falls on August 14, 2028.
