Las Vegas, NV – Motorcyclist in Critical Condition Following Crash at Decatur Boulevard and Alta Drive

Las Vegas, NV - Motorcyclist in Critical Condition Following Crash at Decatur Boulevard and Alta Drive

Las Vegas, NV (June 13, 2026) – At the intersection of South Decatur Boulevard and Alta Drive in the west Las Vegas valley, a motorcyclist suffered critical injuries Saturday afternoon in a collision with another vehicle, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Police responded around 4:40 p.m. on Saturday, June 13. The motorcyclist was transported to a nearby hospital with critical injuries, police said.

Authorities shut down all lanes in the area while officers investigated the crash. Drivers were urged to avoid the intersection and seek alternate routes.

Additional details about what led to the crash were not immediately available.

The investigation is ongoing.

Critical injuries on a motorcycle are rarely a short recovery, and while that road ahead is still uncertain, the window for protecting a legal claim is already open and moving.

Motorcycle Accidents in Las Vegas, Nevada

A motorcyclist has almost no structural protection in a collision. What that means practically is that critical injuries are common, medical timelines are long, and insurers begin building their version of the facts the moment a crash is reported, often before the rider leaves the hospital.

Nevada follows a modified comparative negligence standard (NRS 41.141). In motorcycle cases specifically, insurers routinely argue the rider shares fault; lane position, speed, visibility, reaction time, to reduce what they pay. Every piece of evidence from the crash scene addresses that argument directly. Once it’s gone, only one side of the story gets told.

What matters most in the hours and days after a motorcycle crash:

  • Do not give a recorded statement to any insurance company before speaking with an attorney, early statements are routinely used to assign partial fault to riders
  • Document injuries from day one – the medical record established in the first 24 to 48 hours is the foundation of any injury claim; gaps in treatment give insurers room to argue the injuries weren’t serious
  • Do not authorize repairs or a salvage release on the motorcycle – the bike is evidence; its damage pattern tells investigators what the collision looked like
  • Move quickly on intersection footage – traffic cameras and nearby business cameras at a busy west valley intersection typically overwrite within 24 to 72 hours

Under Nevada law, you have two years from the date of the crash to file a personal injury claim (NRS 11.190). For this June, 2026 crash, that deadline is June, 2028. The legal deadline gives you time, the evidence deadline does not.
