Las Vegas, NV (20, 2026) – A crash at East Charleston Boulevard and North 28th Street left a 23-year-old motorcyclist with potentially life-threatening injuries Monday afternoon, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The collision occurred at approximately 4:50 p.m. Police say a 2008 Honda Odyssey was making a U-turn from westbound Charleston Boulevard to eastbound Charleston Boulevard at the intersection with 28th Street. A 2024 Suzuki GSX-R1000 was traveling eastbound on Charleston Boulevard in the left of two eastbound travel lanes when the Honda crossed into its path.
The front of the motorcycle struck the right side of the Honda, according to LVMPD.
The motorcyclist, identified by police as Kevin Castro Ochoa, 23, of Las Vegas, was transported by ambulance to UMC Trauma. His injuries were determined to be potentially life-threatening.
The driver of the Honda remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, police say. She and two passengers sustained minor injuries.
The collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section.
A motorcycle crash like this changes everything in seconds; one moment you are riding home, the next your family is waiting outside a trauma unit. The steps taken in the first days afterward shape what recovery looks like, medically and financially.
Motorcycle Accidents in Las Vegas, Nevada
Nevada law protects a rider’s right of way – a vehicle turning or making a U-turn into a motorcycle’s path is a central liability question in crashes like this one. When a driver crosses into an oncoming or through lane, investigators examine 3 factors: right of way, sight lines, and lane position. Acting quickly preserves the evidence that answers those questions.
Take 4 actions after a Las Vegas motorcycle crash:
- See a doctor today. Internal injuries and traumatic brain injuries surface days after impact
- Decline recorded statements to the other driver’s insurance company before speaking with an attorney
- Preserve all evidence, such as helmet and riding gear, the damaged motorcycle, photos of the intersection, and witness contact information
- Reject any early settlement offer before an attorney values the full claim, including future medical care and lost income
Nevada follows modified comparative negligence (NRS 41.141) – an injured rider recovers compensation provided they were less than 51% at fault. Under Nevada law, you have two years from the date of the crash to file a personal injury claim (NRS 11.190).
This crash occurred on Monday, July 20, 2026 – the filing deadline is July 20, 2028. Insurance companies use that time against victims; evidence like intersection camera footage disappears far sooner.
How Ace Law Group Handles Motorcycle Accident Cases
Ace Law Group establishes right of way first – securing the LVMPD collision report, intersection camera footage, and an independent accident reconstruction before that evidence disappears. In a turn-into-path crash, liability turns on 3 questions: which vehicle held the right of way, whether the turning driver had a clear sight line, and where the rider was positioned in the lane.
Our Las Vegas motorcycle accident lawyer team answers all 3 with physical evidence, then negotiates with the insurance company from documented facts – not their version of events.
That approach recovered $44M+ for injured Nevada clients in 2025, including a $7.1 million award in a traumatic brain injury case.
