Motorcyclist dead after crash near Mt. Charleston

Las Vegas, NV (Nov 11, 2025) – A 28-year-old motorcyclist identified as Andrew Francisco Villagrana of Henderson tragically died Tuesday morning following a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on State Route 158 (Deer Creek Road) near mile marker 7.

According to Nevada Highway Patrol, the crash was reported shortly after 8:00 a.m. in the Spring Mountains, a route that connects Kyle Canyon Road to Lee Canyon Road. Preliminary findings indicate Villagrana was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed when he failed to navigate a curve, veering onto the shoulder and into a scenic overlook parking area.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene but pronounced Villagrana dead due to the severity of his injuries. Both directions of State Route 158 were closed for several hours as authorities investigated and cleared the wreck.

According to Nevada State Police, this marks the 53rd traffic fatality investigated by the Highway Patrol Southern Command in 2025.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Andrew Francisco Villagrana during this difficult time.

Motorcycle Accidents in Nevada

Motorcycle accidents are among the most dangerous types of roadway collisions in Nevada, particularly along mountain highways like State Route 158, where steep grades, curves, and speed contribute to higher risks. The Nevada Department of Transportation reports that riders are 28 times more likely to die in crashes than passengers in cars due to the lack of protection.

Common causes of motorcycle crashes include speeding, road debris, tight curves, and inexperienced handling. Even when a rider is the only person involved, other contributing factors such as poor road design, inadequate signage, or mechanical failure may play a role.

Under Nevada law, families of fatal motorcycle crash victims can pursue wrongful death claims to recover compensation for funeral costs, medical expenses, loss of financial support, and emotional suffering. The statute of limitations for such claims is two years from the date of death. Acting quickly helps preserve key evidence, including accident reconstruction reports, witness statements, and law enforcement findings.
