South Las Vegas, NV (December 14, 2025) – A 65-year-old motorcyclist died Saturday afternoon following a collision with a U-Haul truck at a busy intersection in south Las Vegas.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), the accident occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of South Las Vegas Boulevard and Blue Diamond Road.
Preliminary investigation reports indicate that both the motorcyclist, identified as a 65-year-old man riding a KTM Super Duke, and the U-Haul driver, a 51-year-old man, were traveling eastbound on Blue Diamond Road.
Authorities stated that both vehicles were approaching the intersection in the designated left-turn lanes. The collision occurred when the motorcycle struck the left side of the moving U-Haul truck. The impact caused the rider to be thrown from the bike, landing underneath the truck. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead shortly after the crash.
Police confirmed that the driver of the U-Haul remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time.
Following a fatal traffic collision in Nevada, a comprehensive investigation is standard procedure to determine the official cause of the accident. When accidents involve vehicles traveling in parallel turn lanes, investigators typically analyze lane positioning, right-of-way adherence, and physical evidence at the scene.
Families involved in such tragedies need to understand that the preliminary police report is often just the first step in the legal process.
