Las Vegas, NV – Pedestrian Killed in Early Morning Hit-and-Run on South Las Vegas Boulevard

Las Vegas, NV (December 18, 2025) – A 47-year-old man lost his life early Thursday morning following a hit-and-run collision in the southern part of the Las Vegas valley. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) responded to the scene near the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and East Cactus Avenue shortly after 3:15 a.m.

According to investigators, the pedestrian was traveling south on Las Vegas Boulevard in an area noted for a lack of sidewalk infrastructure and street lighting. Preliminary reports indicate that a Ford F-250 struck the man north of Cactus Avenue. The driver of the truck allegedly failed to remain at the scene to render aid or contact emergency services.

Medical personnel arrived shortly after the dispatch but pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene. Through investigative efforts, LVMPD officers located the vehicle and identified the driver as 59-year-old Pedro Jimenez Jr.

Jimenez Jr. was apprehended and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on felony charges related to failing to stop at the scene of an accident. His initial court appearance is set for December 19.

This tragic incident marks the 159th traffic-related fatality within the LVMPD’s jurisdiction for 2025. The department’s Collision Investigation Section continues to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
