Las Vegas, NV (December 11, 2025) – A 30-year-old man is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries following a severe hit-and-run collision late Thursday night in South Las Vegas.
The incident occurred just after 11:00 p.m. on East Katie Avenue, just west of South Maryland Parkway.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), the pedestrian was crossing Katie Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk when a westbound Ford sedan struck him. The impact inflicted critical injuries.
Instead of stopping to render aid as required by Nevada law, the driver of the Ford fled the scene. Police later located the suspect vehicle abandoned nearby, but the driver remains at large.
The investigation is active.
Our thoughts are with the victim and his family as they hope for a recovery during this incredibly difficult time.
Hit-and-run collisions involving pedestrians are a growing concern across Las Vegas, particularly in high-traffic corridors near Maryland Parkway, Flamingo Road, and the Strip. Many of these crashes occur at night or outside marked crosswalks, often leading to severe or fatal injuries.
Under Nevada law, fleeing the scene of a crash resulting in injury or death is a felony offense. Victims and their families have the right to seek compensation through personal injury or wrongful death claims, which may cover medical bills, lost wages, long-term care, and emotional trauma.
The statute of limitations for filing such claims in Nevada is two years, making it crucial to act promptly to preserve evidence, including traffic camera footage, eyewitness accounts, and police reports.
