Las Vegas, NV (June 4, 2026) – On southbound Interstate 15 just south of Craig Road, two people had to be cut from their car and taken to a hospital after a crash with a construction utility truck early Thursday morning, according to Nevada State Police.
Nevada State Police responded to the crash at 5:35 a.m. on June 4, police say. The crash involved a black Lexus and a white Ford F-450 construction utility pickup truck.
North Las Vegas Fire and Rescue had to extricate both the driver and the passenger from the Lexus. Both were transported to a local area hospital with injuries sustained in the crash, according to police.
The driver of the pickup remained on scene.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.
Being trapped inside a vehicle until rescuers can reach you is among the most frightening parts of any crash. For the two people now recovering in the hospital, the focus turns to healing, and to understanding how a collision with a work truck left them needing to be cut free.
Commercial and Utility Truck Crashes in Las Vegas, Nevada
A crash involving a work truck is rarely as simple as a collision between two private drivers. When a construction or utility vehicle is involved, more than one party may share responsibility for what happened.
Several parties can be liable in a commercial-vehicle crash:
- The driver of the truck, if their actions contributed to the collision
- The construction or utility company that owned or operated the vehicle
- A separate employer, if the driver was on the job at the time
- A maintenance provider, if a mechanical failure played a role
Because fault has not yet been established, Nevada’s modified comparative negligence rule (NRS 41.141) may apply. An injured person can still recover compensation as long as they were less than 51% at fault, though any award is reduced by their share of responsibility.
Much of the evidence in a commercial crash, the truck’s maintenance records, the driver’s logs, and the company’s insurance details, sits with the company, not the victim. That evidence can disappear quickly.
Under Nevada law, an injured person generally has two years from the date of the crash to file a personal injury claim (NRS 11.190). For a crash in June 2026, that deadline falls in June 2028.

Being cut out of your own vehicle is a terrifying way to start the day, and the uncertainty that follows weighs on the whole family.
Because Nevada allows only two years to file, and because a work truck’s most useful evidence can vanish quickly, the smartest first step is locking down the proof early.
