Las Vegas, NV (Mar 17, 2026) – A sedan struck a moped rider near the intersection of Buffalo Drive and Desert Inn Road in the southwest valley at approximately 4:28 a.m. Tuesday.
The rider sustained injuries in the collision and was transported to a local hospital for treatment; however, the exact severity of those injuries has not been disclosed.
Immediately following the impact, the driver of the sedan fled the scene and has not yet been located by authorities.
In Nevada’s at-fault insurance system, hit-and-run victims face the unique challenge of securing compensation when a driver is missing. In these scenarios, a victim’s own Uninsured Motorist (UM) coverage typically serves as the primary source for medical bills and lost wages. Fleeing the scene of an accident involving injury is a felony under NRS 484E.010, and establishing liability is vital to a successful claim. Under Nevada’s modified comparative negligence rule (NRS 41.141), a moped rider can still pursue a full recovery as long as they are found to be 50% or less responsible for the incident.
