Las Vegas, NV - Pedestrian Fatally Struck by a Car Near Paradise and East Flamingo Roads

Las Vegas, NV (Mar 9, 2026) – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal collision that occurred Monday morning at the intersection of Paradise Road and East Flamingo Road.

A 57-year-old man was crossing Flamingo Road outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a eastbound 2014 Hyundai Accent.

The pedestrian was transported to Sunrise Hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

The 23-year-old driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

Pedestrian Liability and Hotspots in Las Vegas

While reports note the victim was outside a crosswalk, Nevada’s NRS 484B.280 mandates that drivers exercise “due care” to avoid collisions with pedestrians at all times. This corridor is a recognized safety hotspot, with data showing that 70% of fatal or serious injury crashes in this area involve pedestrians. Under Nevada’s modified comparative negligence rule (NRS 41.141), a wrongful death claim remains possible if the victim was 50% or less at fault. Surviving family members have a legal right under NRS 41.085 to seek justice for their loss of companionship and financial support.
