Las Vegas, NV – 38-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed in Cheyenne Avenue and Lincoln Road

Propane Truck Left Turn at Cheyenne Avenue and Lincoln Road Kills East Las Vegas Motorcyclist

Las Vegas, NV (May 12, 2026) – A 38-year-old motorcyclist was killed Tuesday morning when a propane truck turned into his path at the intersection of Cheyenne Avenue and Lincoln Road in the east valley, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Officers responded to the area around 6:29 a.m. after receiving calls about the crash.

According to police, a 2020 Freightliner propane truck had stopped at a stop sign on Lincoln Road, then turned left as a 2020 Triumph Street Triple RS motorcycle approached eastbound on Cheyenne. The motorcycle hit the truck’s left side, overturned, and came to a rest on the roadway. The truck came to a stop nearby.

The rider was located at the scene and pronounced dead, police say. The 48-year-old driver of the propane truck remained at the scene. According to police, the truck driver was not impaired.

The intersection at Cheyenne Avenue and Lincoln Road was blocked while police conducted their investigation and has since reopened.

Losing someone in a crash that may have been prevented is a grief that no family should carry alone. While investigators work to determine what happened at this intersection, families in this situation have legal rights and a deadline that begins the day of the crash.

Fatal Motorcycle Accidents in Las Vegas, Nevada

When a commercial vehicle turns across a motorcyclist’s path, more than one party may be responsible for what happened. Here is what families need to know:

Who may be liable:

  • The truck driver, for failing to yield right-of-way during a left turn
  • The company that owned or operated the Freightliner propane truck
  • Any party responsible for the truck’s maintenance or roadworthiness

What attorneys and investigators examine:

  • Whether the truck driver had a clear line of sight before executing the turn
  • The motorcycle’s speed and lane position on Cheyenne Avenue
  • Dashcam footage from the truck, traffic camera recordings, and witness accounts
  • Driver logs, licensing records, and the trucking company’s safety history

Nevada’s comparative negligence standard:

Nevada follows a modified comparative fault rule (NRS 41.141). A wrongful death claim can still proceed even if the motorcyclist was found partially at fault – provided fault does not exceed 50%. An attorney can evaluate the facts before any determination is made.

Your filing deadline:
Wrongful death claims in Nevada must be filed within two years of the date of death (NRS 41.085). This crash occurred on May 12, 2026 – your deadline is May 12, 2028. Acting early protects critical evidence, including truck dashcam footage and driver records that may not be retained indefinitely.
