Las Vegas, NV (October 21, 2025) – One person was killed early Tuesday morning after a sedan crashed into the base of a power pole in south Las Vegas, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD).
The collision occurred around 2:15 a.m. near the intersection of Pebble Road and Paradise Road, just west of Maryland Parkway. Investigators determined that the sedan was traveling eastbound at high speed when it veered off the roadway and struck a concrete wall enclosing the power pole base in the median.
The driver, who was the sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The LVMPD Fatal Detail responded to conduct a full investigation into the cause of the crash. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity.
Our sincere condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased driver.
Fatal single-vehicle collisions like this one are a tragic reminder of the dangers of excessive speed and roadway deviations. According to the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety, Las Vegas accounts for a significant portion of the state’s annual fatal crashes – many of which involve loss of vehicle control on major urban roadways.
In such cases, families may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim, especially if defective road design, mechanical failure, or another driver’s negligence contributed to the crash. Nevada law allows two years from the date of death to file a wrongful death lawsuit, making timely legal action essential.
