Las Vegas, NV - Motorcyclist Critically Injured in Collision Involving Chevrolet Equinox at Viking Rd and Pacific St

Las Vegas, NV (11, 2026) – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a serious accident that occurred on Wednesday afternoon near the intersection of East Viking Road and South Pacific Street.

Just before 2 p.m., a 64-year-old motorcyclist traveling westbound was struck when the driver of a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox turned north directly into the rider’s path.

The motorcyclist was ejected from his bike and transported to Sunrise Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Equinox remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Motorcycle Liability and Right of Way

Under Nevada Revised Statute NRS 484B.257, any driver intending to turn left or enter a new path of travel must yield the right-of-way to all vehicles approaching from the opposite direction that are close enough to constitute an immediate hazard. A violation of this “duty to yield” is often considered prima facie evidence of negligence in a personal injury claim. Because Nevada follows a modified comparative negligence rule (NRS 41.141), it is critical to secure witness statements and surveillance footage immediately to prevent insurance companies from using “biker bias” to unfairly shift blame onto the injured motorcyclist.
