Las Vegas, NV (Mar 7, 2026) – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a severe pedestrian accident that occurred Saturday evening on the Las Vegas Strip.
Just before 5:30 p.m., at the intersection of South Las Vegas Boulevard and East Flamingo Road, a Toyota Camry driver struck two visitors from Mexico, ages 32 and 49.
Evidence suggests the driver was attempting to reverse the vehicle to clear sidewalk congestion following an initial minor collision.
The Camry’s rear impact pinned both pedestrians underneath the car.
Bystanders assisted until emergency responders arrived to transport both victims to the hospital.
The 49-year-old victim remains in critical condition.
In Nevada’s at-fault system, drivers must exercise “due care” to avoid collisions with pedestrians at all times (NRS 484B.280). Prohibitions against operating a vehicle on a sidewalk to avoid traffic (NRS 484B.117) are strictly enforced to protect public safety. International visitors possess the same legal rights to full compensation as U.S. citizens. Under Nevada’s modified comparative negligence rule (NRS 41.141), injured parties can recover damages for medical bills and pain and suffering provided they are 50% or less at fault for the incident.
