What to Do After a Pedestrian Accident in Las Vegas
The Nevada Office of Traffic Safety counted 109 pedestrian deaths statewide in 2025, according to its preliminary state fatal crash report. The same report lists 43 pedestrian deaths in Nevada from January through June 2026, including 28 in Clark County. These 6 steps protect an injured pedestrian’s health and the evidence behind a claim:
- Follow every treatment plan from the hospital team, since medical records show the full extent of the injury.
- Request the event number from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to order the crash report once it is released.
- Ask nearby businesses and homeowners for camera footage right away, since many systems record over video within days.
- Keep the clothing and shoes worn in the crash unwashed, since they can show where the vehicle made contact.
- Check your own auto policy for medical payments or uninsured motorist coverage, which can apply even though you were walking.
- Decline recorded statements to the driver’s insurance company until you understand your rights.
