Las Vegas, NV (Mar 29, 2026) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver at the intersection of North Rancho Drive and West Washington Avenue in Las Vegas at approximately 10:38 p.m. on Saturday.

The driver fled the scene immediately after the crash. The vehicle was later located by authorities. Emergency Medical Services responded and performed life-saving efforts, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under active investigation by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section. The identity of the victim has not been publicly released.

Fatal Hit-and-Run in Las Vegas, NV

Hit-and-run crashes that result in death are among the most legally complex incidents on Nevada roads, and families are often told to wait for the police investigation before exploring their options. That is the wrong approach.

Nevada law provides multiple paths to compensation even when the at-fault driver has not yet been identified. If the driver is found, a wrongful death claim can be filed directly. If the driver remains unidentified or uninsured, a claim may still be filed under the victim’s own uninsured motorist coverage, a path many families never know exists.

What to do right now:

  • Contact a wrongful death attorney immediately, evidence in hit-and-run cases disappears fast
  • Do not speak to any insurance company before consulting an attorney
  • Do not sign any documents or accept any settlement before understanding every available source of compensation

Nevada’s deadline: Wrongful death claims must be filed within two years of the date of death (NRS 41.085).
