LVMPD Not Responding to Non-Injury Accidents

Las Vegas Metro Police Department is no longer responding to car accidents that have non-injuries. ( It is considered the responsibility of the people involved to exchange insurance documents in order to resolve the matter. However, the common problem with this is that in soft tissue injuries (whiplash), you may not experience any pain in your neck and shoulder area until hours later or even the next day. If you do experience pain it is vital that you contact a doctor immediately! Do not wait to see if the pain goes away, more damage could occur down the road.

If you experience pain after an accident, you must also make an incident report with LVMPD as soon as possible. If they turn you away, it is possible to make a report through the DMV provided that you do so within ten days of the accident. If you need any assistance with this process please feel free to call our office or your lawyer.

LVMPD will respond to the following types of accidents:

  • Accidents with injuries or fatalities;
  • A driver under the influence of alcohol, narcotics or other substances;
  • A driver who doesn’t have a driver’s license, proof of insurance or registration;
  • A hit and run;
  • A vehicle disabled on the roadway as a result of an accident; and

An uncooperative driver (i.e. will not exchange information) or any other disturbance meriting a police response.
