Henderson, NV – Two Juveniles Injured After Semi-Truck Collides With School Bus on I-215

Semi-Truck Collides With School Bus on I-215

Henderson, NV (Sept 9, 2026) – Two juveniles suffered minor injuries when a semi-tractor trailer collided with a school bus carrying children on eastbound I-215 Wednesday morning. Nevada State Highway Patrol responded to the crash just east of Gibson Road at 7:55 a.m.

One of the two injured juveniles was taken to the hospital. The bus’s mirror was damaged in the collision, and a replacement bus arrived on scene shortly afterward. Henderson Police Department officers were on scene as medical personnel responded.

Nevada Highway Patrol has not released a cause for the crash. Officials cleared the scene by 9:50 a.m.

School Bus Accidents in Henderson, NV

Nevada holds school bus operators to the same heightened “utmost care” standard as any common carrier, but only for transportation-related risks like this collision, and only if the bus driver’s own conduct is found to be a factor. Investigators have not yet released a cause, so it is not yet known whether the semi-truck driver, the bus driver, or both contributed to this crash.

That distinction changes which legal rules apply. A claim against a private trucking company is not capped and is backed by federal minimum insurance requirements. A claim against a school bus driver, who is typically a government employee, falls under NRS Chapter 41, which caps damages at $200,000 per claimant and requires a separate notice of claim filed with the school district within two years, on top of the standard lawsuit.
