Las Vegas, NV (Aug. 1, 2026) – Nevada Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash on northbound Interstate 11 near the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard on-ramp late Saturday night after an SUV struck a pedestrian. Troopers arrived at the scene at 10:54 p.m. One adult male pedestrian was confirmed dead at the scene.
All northbound I-11 travel lanes were closed at I-11 and Casino Center while troopers worked the scene. Traffic was diverted to the northbound I-11/Casino Center on-ramp toward northbound I-15, and the lanes have since reopened. Nevada Highway Patrol said further information would be released following the preliminary investigation and asked motorists to avoid the area and use alternate routes during the closure.
This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.
A family that loses someone this suddenly is often left with more questions than answers, and getting those answers usually starts with the same investigation troopers are still running.
Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Las Vegas, NV
A pedestrian struck and killed on a highway on-ramp raises questions about speed, visibility, and driver attention that only a completed investigation can answer. In Nevada, a family does not have to wait for that investigation to conclude before protecting its rights.
- Who may be liable: the SUV driver and any additional party if the completed investigation shows a mechanical or roadway factor contributed
- What investigators examine: vehicle speed, driver visibility approaching the on-ramp, roadway lighting at 10:54 p.m., and any traffic camera or dashcam footage from northbound I-11
- What the crash report will ultimately state: fault, contributing factors, and whether any citations were issued
Nevada follows a modified comparative negligence standard (NRS 41.141), meaning a family may still recover compensation as long as the pedestrian was less than 51% at fault. Wrongful death claims in Nevada must generally be filed within two years of the date of death (NRS 41.085), which sets a deadline of August 1, 2028, in this case.

Losing someone in a crash that happened in seconds, on a road they crossed every day, is a loss no family should have to sort through alone.
Our Las Vegas pedestrian accident lawyers have recovered $7.1 million for a family in a vehicle-versus-pedestrian case involving a traumatic brain injury, and we know how to build a wrongful death claim even when the police report is still incomplete.
Traffic camera footage, 911 audio, and the SUV’s own event data recorder are only kept for a limited window, so the sooner that evidence is requested, the more likely it survives long enough to matter.
We work on contingency. There is no cost to talk with us, and nothing owed unless we recover for your family.
