Las Vegas, NV (Sept 1, 2026) – A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries Tuesday morning when a van drifted into a parked landscape trailer and struck him in the east valley. The collision happened around 7:37 a.m. at East Mountridge Drive and North Hollywood Boulevard.
A 2015 Ford F-150 with an attached landscape trailer was parked along the north curb of westbound East Mountridge Drive. Two pedestrians were working at the trailer: one on its left side removing landscaping equipment, and a second inside the trailer retrieving equipment. Police say a 2017 Ford Transit van traveling westbound drifted to the right, struck the trailer’s left rear with its right front, then struck the first pedestrian and threw him onto the roadway before coming to a controlled stop.
The first pedestrian was taken to UMC Trauma with life-threatening injuries. The second suffered minor injuries from the impact while still inside the trailer. Police say the van’s driver remained at the scene, showed no signs of impairment, and cooperated with the investigation.
LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section is investigating.
Pedestrian Accidents in Las Vegas, NV
Nevada law requires a driver to exercise due care to avoid a pedestrian and to use proper caution around anyone near a roadway, under NRS 484B.280, a duty that applies with or without a marked crosswalk. The two men here were working at a legally parked vehicle, not crossing traffic, which puts this squarely inside that duty: an unexplained drift into a stationary, visible obstruction is close to the clearest kind of failure to exercise due care a driver can commit.
Two separate injuries came out of one drift: life-threatening harm to the man beside the trailer, and a minor injury to the man working inside it. Nevada law treats these as two claims, not one, and the second man’s injury does not have to be severe to be compensable.
