Mineral County, NV (Sept 7, 2026) – A rollover crash involving a semi-truck and a pickup truck caused minor injuries and briefly blocked U.S. 95 north of Hawthorne on Monday.
Nevada State Police responded around 9:45 a.m. to the crash at mile marker 69, on the highway connecting Las Vegas and Reno.
Both directions of the highway were blocked by the larger vehicle. All travel lanes reopened by about 3:50 p.m., according to Nevada State Police.
Trucking Accidents in Nevada
Commercial trucking companies must carry at least $750,000 in federal liability insurance under 49 CFR § 387.9, roughly 15 times Nevada’s $50,000 minimum for an ordinary passenger vehicle, which is exactly why a crash involving a semi carries different stakes than a two-car collision. That policy also carries a mandatory MCS-90 endorsement, meaning the insurer has to pay a valid public liability claim even if it would otherwise try to deny it on a technicality, a protection an ordinary driver’s policy does not carry.
A rollover on a remote highway like this one also means the evidence is more fragile, not less important: the truck’s electronic control module, driver logs, and dispatch records can establish what the truck was doing in the moments before it rolled, but that data is far more easily lost or overwritten on a truck that gets back on the road than on one impounded in a city.

Minor injuries in a police report do not always mean minor injuries in real life, especially after a rollover involving a semi-truck, where the forces at play are nothing like an ordinary fender-bender. Our Reno-based truck accident team at Ace Law Group represents clients across the state, because a crash on a remote highway deserves the same attention as one closer to home.
As a Reno Truck Accident Lawyer, we move on a carrier’s electronic logging device data within hours of a call, since that record of speed and braking disappears the moment the trucking company decides it no longer needs it.
