Southeast Las Vegas, NV (Jan 26, 2026) – A 16-year-old sustained critical injuries following a traffic collision Tuesday evening at a busy intersection in southeast Las Vegas, according to police.

Officials with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported that the crash occurred just after 5:00 p.m. at the intersection of Tropicana Avenue and Pecos Road. The incident involved the teenager and the driver of a Hyundai Sonata.

Police stated that the driver was traveling westbound on East Tropicana Avenue and entered the intersection with a green traffic signal. According to investigators, the crash occurred after the vehicle passed through the intersection at the same time the teen reportedly darted southbound into the driver’s path.

Authorities said the driver brought the vehicle to a controlled stop following the collision. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and transported the teen to Sunrise Hospital’s Trauma Unit, where she remains in critical condition.

Police reported that the driver was not injured and was not impaired. Investigators also clarified that while the crash was initially reported as a hit-and-run based on statements from individuals at the scene, no evidence was found to support the involvement of a second vehicle.
