What to Do After a Wrong-Way Car Accident in Las Vegas
A wrong-way crash can leave you disoriented, injured, and facing an insurance company that is already building its case. Take these 4 steps to protect your claim:
- Seek medical care immediately. Life-threatening and serious injuries often involve internal trauma with no visible symptoms at the scene. A documented medical evaluation creates the medical record your car accident claim depends on.
- Do not speak to the other driver’s insurance company. Adjusters may contact you within 24 to 48 hours. Do not give a recorded statement, accept blame, or discuss your injuries without an attorney present.
- Preserve all evidence. This includes scene photos, dashcam footage, witness contact information, and surveillance video from nearby businesses. Evidence disappears quickly after a car accident.
- Do not accept any settlement before consulting an attorney. First offers after serious car crashes are routinely far below the true value of the claim, especially where life-threatening injuries are involved.
Nevada’s statute of limitations for car accident claims is 2 years from the date of the crash. For a crash occurring in May 2026, the filing deadline is May 2028, especially where life-threatening injuries are involved.
