Las Vegas, NV (Sept 12, 2026) – Nevada Highway Patrol troopers responded to a deadly crash on westbound Craig Road at I-11, and a man riding a motorcycle was confirmed dead at the scene, Nevada State Police say.
Officials say the crash was reported at 12:13 a.m. on September 12, 2026. Two vehicles were involved, a sport utility vehicle and a motorcycle.
Craig Road westbound at I-11 was temporarily closed, according to police. The intersection of I-11 at Craig Road was shut down as well, including all on- and off-ramps.
Troopers closed the intersection in both directions while they investigated. Officials say further information will be released following the preliminary investigation.
This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.
A rider who leaves home after midnight and does not come back leaves a family holding questions that only an investigation can answer. Here is what Nevada law allows those families to do while they wait.
Fatal Motorcycle Accidents in Las Vegas, Nevada
Craig Road at I-11 pushes freeway ramp traffic into surface street lanes. A rider has no structure around him when a larger vehicle crosses into his path.
When police have not announced a cause, families sometimes wait for the report before doing anything. The evidence does not wait with them.
- What investigators examine: lane position, right of way, ramp merging, and whether either vehicle was turning across traffic
- Evidence that carries the case: the Nevada Highway Patrol crash report, ramp and intersection camera footage, damage patterns on both vehicles, and witness accounts
- Who may share responsibility: the driver of the other vehicle, an employer if that vehicle was being used for work, or a road authority if signal timing or ramp design played a part
- What a claim can cover: funeral and burial costs, the income the family has lost, medical bills before death, and the loss of a spouse, parent, or child
Right of way decides many of these cases. A driver who turns across a rider’s path, or merges into a lane a motorcycle already occupies, may be responsible even without a citation.
Nevada also follows a modified comparative negligence rule (NRS 41.141). A family can still recover as long as the rider is found less than 51 percent at fault.
Wrongful death claims in Nevada must be filed within two years of the date of death (NRS 41.085). For a death on September 12, 2026, that deadline falls on September 12, 2028. A wrongful death attorney in Las Vegas can explain who in the family has standing to bring it.
