Las Vegas Bicyclist Hospitalized After Truck Crash at Flamingo Road and Maryland Parkway

Las Vegas, NV (May 19, 2026) – A bicyclist was hospitalized yesterday afternoon after a collision with a truck at Flamingo Road and Maryland Parkway, according to Las Vegas police.

The bicyclist has been reported in “stable” condition at a local hospital, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says.

LVMPD reports the crash occurred just before 5 p.m. The collision involved a truck and a bicyclist.

Officers say impairment is not suspected at this time. Police did not immediately provide the condition of the truck driver.

An RTC alert reported that Maryland Parkway is closed in both directions from Flamingo Road to Cottage Grove Avenue while investigators work the scene.

A truck-versus-bicycle crash on one of Las Vegas’s busiest east-west corridors often produces injuries that look minor at the scene but worsen over the following days. Documenting the crash properly and protecting the victim’s claim starts within the first 24 hours.

A “stable” ER report is not the whole story. Concussions, internal injuries, and soft-tissue damage often surface days after a truck-versus-bicycle crash. The choices made in the first week shape what the case is worth six months from now.

  • See a doctor within 24 to 48 hours. Follow-up medical records often matter more than ER notes.
  • Do not give the truck driver’s insurance company a recorded statement. They will call. Let us handle them.
  • Preserve the bicycle, helmet, clothes, and any phone footage. Surveillance from businesses at Flamingo and Maryland gets overwritten in 7 to 30 days.
  • Do not sign anything from the insurance company yet. Commercial truck policies carry millions in liability – first offers are built to close the case before anyone realizes that.

Filing deadline: May 19, 2028. Nevada gives an injury victim two years from the crash date to file a personal injury claim (NRS 11.190). Investigation and negotiation alone routinely take 12 to 18 months.

A partial fault does not end the case. Under Nevada’s modified comparative negligence rule (NRS 41.141), a bicyclist can still recover compensation as long as their share of fault is 50% or less.

None of this has to be figured out alone. A short call with a Las Vegas personal injury attorney is the simplest way to understand what the case is worth and what comes next.
