Las Vegas, NV (Sept. 27, 2026) – A 52-year-old pedestrian died after being struck by a semi-truck on Lake Mead Boulevard over the weekend, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The crash happened just before noon on Sunday, near Lake Mead Boulevard east of Michael Way. Police say a semi-truck without a trailer was traveling eastbound on Lake Mead Boulevard when the pedestrian, who had been standing in front of a nearby residence, entered the roadway for a reason investigators have not determined.
The 52-year-old was rushed to University Medical Center’s Trauma Center, where he later died from his injuries.
The driver of the semi-truck remained at the scene, cooperated with investigators, and showed no signs of impairment, police said.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death before the case is formally classified as a traffic fatality. The crash remains under investigation by LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section.
This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.
Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Las Vegas, NV
A commercial truck striking a pedestrian raises questions that go beyond the driver alone, even when that driver appears to have done everything right. An investigation into a crash like this one typically looks at the trucking company’s hiring and inspection records, the truck’s maintenance history, and whether federal motor carrier safety regulations were followed, alongside the driver’s own actions in the moments before impact.
- Review commercial liability: trucking companies can share responsibility for a crash through inadequate vehicle maintenance, improper loading, or insufficient driver oversight, separate from what the driver did behind the wheel
- Preserve the truck’s data: dashcam footage, GPS logs, and the vehicle’s onboard event recorder are typically only retained for a limited window before they’re overwritten
- Address comparative fault carefully: Nevada’s modified comparative negligence law (NRS 41.141) still allows a family to recover damages even if the pedestrian is found partially at fault, as long as he is not found 51% or more responsible
- Wait for the coroner’s findings: the official cause and manner of death will shape how the claim is built, and a family is not required to wait for that ruling before beginning to gather evidence
Nevada law gives surviving family members two years from the date of death to file a wrongful death claim (NRS 41.085), which sets the filing deadline in this case at September 27, 2028.
