Las Vegas, NV - Julio Nave-Giron, 46, Killed in Suspected DUI Crash on East St. Louis Avenue

Las Vegas, NV (Dec 06, 2025) – A 46-year-old man was killed Saturday night in a suspected DUI crash in central Las Vegas, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD).

The collision occurred around 9 p.m. near the intersection of East St. Louis Avenue and South 6th Street. Investigators said a Mercedes was speeding eastbound on St. Louis Avenue when it failed to stop at a posted four-way stop sign and entered the intersection.

At the same time, a Ford traveling south on 6th Street had stopped at the intersection and proceeded through lawfully. The Mercedes struck the Ford at high speed, causing catastrophic damage.

Emergency personnel pronounced the Ford’s driver, identified as Julio Nave-Giron, 46, of North Las Vegas, dead at the scene. The Mercedes driver, Rogelio Camacho, 41, of Las Vegas, was transported to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries and later booked into the Clark County Detention Center on DUI and reckless driving charges.

Police confirmed this marks one of several traffic-related fatalities under investigation this year within the LVMPD’s jurisdiction.

Our deepest condolences are with the family and friends of Julio Nave-Giron.

DUI Car Accidents in Las Vegas, NV

Driving under the influence remains one of the leading causes of fatal collisions in Las Vegas, particularly in high-traffic areas such as East St. Louis Avenue and nearby residential corridors. Crashes involving impaired or reckless drivers often result in devastating injuries or fatalities, leaving families facing medical expenses, emotional trauma, and long-term financial losses.

Under Nevada law, victims of DUI-related crashes or their surviving families may pursue compensation through a personal injury or wrongful death claim. Recoverable damages can include medical costs, funeral expenses, lost income, and pain and suffering. In some cases, victims may also be eligible for punitive damages, designed to penalize especially reckless conduct such as drunk driving.

Nevada imposes a two-year statute of limitations for filing such claims, making early legal representation critical to preserve evidence like toxicology reports, traffic camera footage, and witness statements.
