Las Vegas, Nevada (Sept. 23, 2026) – A 37-year-old motorcyclist died in an early morning collision in the east valley, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Officers responded to the intersection of East Patrick Lane and South Pecos Road shortly after 5 a.m. on September 23. Police said evidence at the scene, witness statements, and video surveillance showed a 2018 Ducati Monster motorcycle traveling south on Pecos Road toward Patrick Lane while a 2015 Ram Cargo Van traveled north on Pecos toward the same intersection.
According to police, the van entered the intersection on a yellow light and began turning left as the signal cycled to red. At the same time, police said, the motorcycle entered the intersection without stopping for the red light and struck the side of the van. The rider was ejected onto the roadway. Medical personnel arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The LVMPD Fatal Detail has taken over the investigation, and police said the roadway would remain closed for an extended period, though the exact duration wasn’t immediately known. This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.
Fatal Motorcycle Accidents in Las Vegas, Nevada
A fatal intersection collision at this hour raises hard questions about signal timing, right-of-way, and what the surveillance footage actually shows once it’s reviewed frame by frame.
- Who may be liable: the driver of the van, depending on precisely when the turn began relative to the signal change, a detail witness accounts alone rarely settle
- What the LVMPD Fatal Detail is reviewing: the intersection’s signal timing data, the surveillance footage already referenced in initial reports, and reconstructed vehicle speeds
- Comparative negligence: police accounts describing a rider entering on red do not end the family’s ability to recover. Nevada’s modified comparative negligence rule (NRS 41.141) allows recovery as long as the rider’s own share of fault stayed under 51 percent, a determination that belongs to a full investigation, not an initial police summary
Nevada law sets a two-year deadline from the date of death for a wrongful death claim, which places this filing deadline at September 23, 2028 (NRS 41.085).

Losing someone suddenly leaves a family with grief first and questions about the law second, and that order matters to us. We built this firm around that reality. Founder Patrick Kang became a lawyer after watching his own father struggle through a workplace injury claim without the right legal help, and that experience shapes how every case here gets handled.
Our team includes Hon. Christopher K. Lee (Ret.), a former Nevada judge who spent 12 years on the bench before joining us, so cases get built with an understanding of exactly what a courtroom expects to see. We investigate independently rather than relying on early reports, pulling surveillance footage, vehicle data, and expert reconstruction before accepting any preliminary account of what happened. That approach has helped us recover more than $175 million for Nevada families, including a $7.1 million result and a $1.9 million verdict secured against an insurance company.
We represent motorcycle accident families on contingency. There’s no upfront cost, and no fee unless we win.
