Las Vegas, NV – Driver Arrested After Fatal Hit-and-Run on Nellis Boulevard

Driver Arrested in Fatal Nellis Blvd Hit-and-Run

Las Vegas, NV (Sept 16, 2026) – Police arrested Broderick Brunlinger, 35, in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a 44-year-old man on Nellis Boulevard south of Stewart Avenue Monday night.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said the pedestrian was crossing outside a marked or implied crosswalk at about 8:47 p.m. when a 2022-26 Genesis GV60 struck him.

The pedestrian died at the scene. Police said the SUV’s driver did not stop and continued southbound on Nellis Boulevard, and investigators identified Brunlinger after publicly seeking help finding the vehicle, which likely has damage to its right front side.

Jail records show officers booked Brunlinger Tuesday on a charge of failing to stop at the scene of an accident involving death or substantial bodily harm. He is due for an initial court appearance at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

We extend our condolences to the pedestrian’s loved ones.

Hit and Run Accidents in Las Vegas, NV

Fleeing the scene of a crash that kills someone is a separate Category B felony under NRS 484E.010, punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison, and Nevada law requires a driver to stop and exchange information regardless of who actually caused the crash. That distinction matters here: police say the pedestrian was crossing outside a marked or implied crosswalk, which raises a real question about fault for the initial collision, but it has no bearing on whether stopping was legally required.

Police booked the driver now facing charges specifically for failing to stop, not for a charge tied to causing the crash itself, and that gap between the two questions is exactly why fleeing the scene destroys the evidence that would normally answer them. A civil claim can still move forward without a resolved criminal case, since the two proceed independently.
