North Las Vegas, NV - Fatal Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on Griswold Street

North Las Vegas, NV (Nov 26, 2025) – A pedestrian was fatally struck in a hit-and-run collision on Griswold Street near Las Vegas Boulevard and Pecos, officials report.

North Las Vegas Police Department (NLVPD) officers responded to the scene around 6 p.m. The victim, a woman, was reportedly crossing the road near a marked crosswalk when she was hit by a vehicle. She was found with injuries and tragically died at the scene.

Police confirmed the driver initially fled the area but later returned to turn himself in. The driver was arrested and now faces serious charges, including reckless driving resulting in death, failure to yield to a pedestrian, and leaving the scene of an accident.

The Clark County Coroner’s office is expected to release the victim’s identity soon.

Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of the woman who tragically lost her life in this pedestrian crash.

Hit-and-Run Fatality: Securing Justice Through a Wrongful Death Claim

The driver’s arrest is a critical step in the criminal justice process, but it is entirely separate from the civil action required to seek compensation for the family’s profound loss. When a death is caused by someone else’s reckless or negligent actions (like a hit-and-run or failure to yield), Nevada law allows the surviving family members to file a Wrongful Death Claim.

This civil lawsuit seeks to recover damages for the family’s losses, which may include:

  • Funeral and burial expenses.
  • Medical expenses incurred before death.
  • Loss of companionship, love, and emotional support.
  • Loss of the deceased person’s financial support and future income.

Critical Deadline Alert: For most wrongful death claims in Nevada, the family has a strict two-year deadline (statute of limitations) from the date of death to file a lawsuit. Waiting until the criminal case concludes risks missing this critical civil deadline and losing the right to compensation forever.
