The novel Coronavirus, known as COVID-19 has quickly caused changes to the law. The eeoc.gov has updates their website to include COVID-19 once the Center for Disease Control deemed it a “pandemic”.
If you are part of a high risk group under the CDC and you are working at a place of employment, you can request a REASONABLE ACCOMODATION from your employer. As long as your request does not impose an “Undue Hardship” on your Employer, they must engage with you to accommodate your request.
It is more important now than ever to document your request with your employer. For your personal safety and for your financial safety you should submit any request in writing to Human Resources and/or Management. Under the ADA, your Employer is required to engage with you to ensure that you are given a reasonable accommodation that does not cause them undue hardship.
If your employer is not working with you or your employment as been otherwise affected due to COVID-19, Ace Law Group is now providing free fifteen minute consultations to speak with one of our experienced attorneys to see if there is any help or guidance that can be given during these troubling times.
