Nevada Employment Lawyers – Work at an essential business and part of a Coronavirus High Risk Group?

Governor Sisolak has deemed a number of businesses as “Essential” during this time period the rest of Nevada is at home in quarantine. However, even those essential businesses need to take steps to protect their employees. Especially, the employees who are considered “High Risk”.

CDC Names High Risk Groups for COVID-19

The Center for Disease Control has named the following as High Risk Groups when it comes to exposure to COVID-19:

-Age group of 65 or older

-People who live in a nursing home or long-term care facility

-People of all ages with underlying medical conditions, particularly if not well controlled, including:

-People with chronic lung disease or moderate to severe asthma

-People who have serious heart conditions

-People who are immunocompromised

(Many conditions can cause a person to be immunocompromised, including cancer treatment, smoking, bone marrow or organ transplantation, immune deficiencies, poorly controlled HIV or AIDS, and prolonged use of corticosteroids and other immune weakening medications)

-People with severe obesity (body mass index [BMI] of 40 or higher)

-People with diabetes

-People with chronic kidney disease undergoing dialysis

-People with liver disease

-Pregnant people.

Reporting

It is crucial that if you fall into any of the above categories for high risk that you notify Human Resources or Management at your company IMMEDIATELY. If your employer than fails to work with you on protecting you or providing reasonable accommodations you can be entitled to monetary compensation.
