Employment Discrimination Law in Nevada

Wrongful termination is a touchy subject in Nevada. Nevada laws are designed to protect the employer when it comes to the firing and hiring of employees. However, there is one large protection afforded employees everywhere, and that is the right to be treated equally whatever your race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, etc.

If you feel that you are being discriminated against it is very important that you do the following:

(1) Make sure to keep a log of the discriminatory acts.
(2) Make sure that you report these discriminatory acts to Human Resources (if your company does not have Human Resources than find a supervisor to report too).
(3) Contact the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (and preferably a lawyer also).

Many employees are scared to make a report against one of their supervisors, however, the reality is that if the company finds a way to terminate you because of your report, then that is classic Retaliation as defined under the laws of the United States of America. No company can fire you because you complained about another employee or a supervisor.

There is protection for Nevada employees who have been victims of discrimination. If you have additional questions, call our office today. 702-333-4223
